STILL EDITING!!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to give a quick update on the editing of the film opening. The film opening is almost done! After hours and hours of editing the video, it is reaching to its final completion. Personally, I think that it has the mood and tone that my crew and I were looking for. At the beginning, it is all lit with low key lighting, the colors are all dark, and the only figure that stands out is the main character, Elliott Theo Gordon. And at the end, but due to timing it my not be included, the scene is more bright. It contains high key lighting, the color palette is mainly white and it contains some other colors such as brown, blacks, grey and some of blues to contrast the colors. And to create a sensation of two worlds, in one the character is suffering (dark colors) and the other the character is calm (light colors).

And now that I am almost done editing the video, I am starting to write my CCR.

I AM BACK

You may be wondering, why the title for this blog is "I AM BACK." Well, as I mentioned in previous blogs, my teammate, Rhea, and I went to television competition, Student Television Network, in Seattle, Washington.

During this amazing trip over the Spring Break, I also started editing the film opening. At first the film opening was 7 minutes long because of all the b-roll that we had filmed before, but as I started to crop the clips and arranging them. The video became 2:00 minutes exact. With this first draft, I had an idea of what I could fix on the film, what could I add such as sound, to make the scenes more dramatic and tense, and what I could do to make the film look more cinematic.

I am currently editing the piece and I am almost done with it. The only features that I am missing are adding the sound effects, fixing the audio, and fixing any clip with technical issues or color correction.

PRODUCTION PT2

Hello everyone! The final day of production is complete! We started filming at 11:30AM because we to filmed the scenes of the character's daily routine. The scene started with him waking up, therefore we used my bedroom for this part because it is all white, just as we wanted it, and the high key natural lighting that received during the production it was perfect. Also, because my room is very white, it contrasted many colors, such as browns and browns, which it gave a nice composition.

Besides filming the scenes in the bedroom, we also filmed some scenes in my kitchen because it is still part of his daily routine. And also, it followed the color palette of whites, browns, and blues. Overall, we didn't face any major issues during this day of production. The only issue that we had is that we wanted "Elliott Theo Gordon" to
measure his portion coffee to exactly 90 grams to go with the title "90 degrees." But, we had to scale it down to 20 grams because it was more coffee than we expected to be.

After these two days of full production, it is now time to move to the next phase which is post-production. For the next week, I'll be in charge to edit the entire piece and add all the sound effects, the music to set the tone, and color correct it that way it can have a more cinematic look.

FIRST DAY OF PRODUCTION!

Hello everyone we started filming our film opening! Everything went according to plan. We recorded all the shots we needed it, the lighting and set design came out with the style that we wanted it, and the actor, Gabe, performed perfectly his role.

We started filming around 4:30PM for our first scene. We thought that for these scenes the time of the production was not going to affect us because we were filming inside a garage. We finished filming at 8:00PM.

As you can see in this image, we were able to get the low key lighting and darker setting that we were looking before.  This was accomplished by shutting off the lights form the garage, and having only one portable light on. I think with this lighting, we made the scene look more dramatic, an aspect that we were very looking forward in to.

Overall, the first day of production went well. We did not ran in to any major issues. Just smaller ones that could solve on the spot, and also we got a grand amount of footage for that scene that way in post-production we have more options to choose from.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to update you with some details!
After trying to look for an actor that could play the roll, we decided to use our director of the film, Gabe. We decided that he could be the perfect to play the roll because he already has some experience with acting in some videos in the past. Also, we think that he has the look that we were looking for to the character.

Another update that I wanted to mention is that our character has name! After an hour of discussing and deciding on which name we should choose, we came up with "Elliott Theo Gordon." We think that by naming this character this way, we can show to the audiences in some other way that there is something off with him.

That's all the updates that we have for now! And very soon we are going to be starting to shoot the first scenes this week!!!!

SET DESIGN

Hey guys! So after talking to my crew and finalize some decisions with the production. We finally decided on how the set is going to look like for our film. As I mentioned in the previous posts, our film opening is going to be divided in two different scenes. The first scene will be, a foreshadow of one of the scenes that is going to be shown later in the film. The second film, which is going to be shown after the title, will the beginning of the movie.

Because we want to show that the main character has being kidnapped, we want to create a set in which it is going to be mainly dark. In other word, the scenario is going to be set with a dark color scheme and also there is going to be low key lighting. That way we show that he is being held captive in a mysterious environment. Also in this scene, we want to incorporate the sense that the main character does not have control of his environment. By this being said, we decided to film the first part of the film in a garage. Also, because our character has OCD, the place is going to be messy and disruptive.

In the second scene, we want to show his life before the character got kidnapped. Therefore, we are going to shoot the scene in a bedroom because it shows that the character follows a daily routine. By this being said, we decided to use my bedroom because it mainly white, which is a symbolism of pure, clean, and perfect. Just as the character intentions with his or her OCD, living in a perfect world. In this same scene because, we are going to use my kitchen because it follows the similar colors schemes as my bedroom which is mainly white, light blue, and grey.

MAYDAY! MAYDAY!!

Hey guys! I just wanted to inform you that my crew and I ran into some problems recently.

The one of the problem that we have is with the timing of the production. This is because Rhea and I, during the Spring Break, from March 26 to April 1st, have a national television competition in Seattle, Washington, called Student Television Network. And Gabe, he is also competing for his health program, HOSA, in Orlando, Florida, mostly at the same time as Rhea and I. Due to this issue, we decided that we were going to film for the next couple of days from March 22nd to March 25th. This leave us with 4 days of full production and at the same time start editing. If we finish by March 24th, we will start editing the film opening that way I, the editor of the film, can finish the final touches.

Another problem that we have is finding the right actor to play the part. We've been trying to find somebody that could portray the emotion and the body language of someone who has OCD and anxiety, but we haven't found anybody at the moment. We were trying to go to our school's drama club and ask the advisor in charge if any of the students from the program will be capable to do the part. If we do not find anybody that could play the roll for the next couple of days, we will use the director of our film, Gabe.

For now these are the problems that we are currently facing, but at least we have other options and ideas on how to fix them. The only problem that I think that it's going to affect us the most is that we won't have the opportunity to re-shoot any of the shots if we want to fix them or change then.

PRODUCTION LOGO!

Hey guys! so I just wanted to update you in our new and final production logo! As I talked about it in previous posts, the logos name, "GEER," comes from the names of the crews production. Gabe, Eugenia, Elly, Rhea. The name "GEER," has a similar sound to word "gear" which made us come up with the idea of making "G" as gear because is the closest letter in the word that it is completely round. We also wanted to keep it very simple and modern look to the logo which it's why we used a minimum amount of colors, grey yellow, black, and white.

CREW

I've been talking about my team for a while now and I never got the chance to introduce them.

This is Gabe and for this production, he will be the director and also the actor of our film for now. If we manage to find an actor by the end of this week, that person will replace his title of actor. As a director, he will be in charge of making sure that all the shots look great on camera and that the story is portrayed properly.

This is Rhea and for this production, she will be the cinematographer of the film. Her job is to make sure that all the shots that the director and writer visualize, can look aesthetically pleasing to the audience with the purpose of telling the story.

This is Elizabeth and for this production, she will be the writer of the film. She will be making sure that the other crew members follow the script and that the story can be portrayed in a way that the audience can understand and enjoy.

And this is me, Eugenia, and for this production, I will be the main editor of the film. My position is to edit the piece. I have to make sure that all the shots are correct, that there is continuity throughout the film, and also that the pacing of the film is right.

Overall, my team and I have work very well for the past couple of weeks and we are all on board on our story. The crew might seem small, but I think we have the knowledge and capacity to work with this amount of people that way we do not ran in to problems, such as timing, and scheduling for shooting.

UPDATE!!!

Hello everyone! Today was a great day for my team and I! We finished our storyboard, created our production logo company, decided in which locations we were going to film, which props we were going to buy, and many more.

Storyboard:
#1
#2

#3

#4

Our film consists of portraying the character under stressed. By this being said, the film is going to start by the protagonist being placed in a dark, trapped place, in which he or she won't have any control. In this scene, the character is going to struggle by trying to fix and organize the place, which makes his OCD and anxiety emotions emerge drastically. This scene is going to be a foreshadow of an event that will happen in the film. Then after showing the character being under stress, it is going to cut to black and fade from black to another scene of the protagonist waking up in his or her bed by an analog clock alarm and following his day by day routine.

Production Logo:

Our film production logo will be called "GEER Productions," which is an acronym of the first names of our team. Gabe, Eugenia, Elly, and Rhea. Because it is pronounced similarly to the word "gear," we thought that it will be creative to make the first letter, "G," to being an actual gear.
The logo is going to have a simple, modern look. Similar to the film production companies, such as A24, Miramax, and Sony Pictures.

EQUIPMENT

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to talk about the type equipment that my group and I is going to use to film opening. We decided to use the Canon Rebel T7i with the regular lens, which is a 80 - 135mm lens, and a 30-62 inch tripod. Also, we are going to be using a 50mm Canon lens to get shots that are going to be filmed in a dark scenario.
We think by using these equipment it will raise our quality of video and get the shots and emotions that we want to show to the audience from the character.
